Parallel and Perpendicular lines

If two lines are represented by equations y₁ = m₁x₁ + c and other is y₂ = m₂x₂ + c, then m₁ and m₂ represent their slopes. It both the lines are perpendicular to each other then m₁m₂ = -1.
For example, 2y + x = 4 and 2x + y = -5 are perpendicular lines.
